Frances L. Mills-Oldenburg, age 87, of White Pigeon, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Elkhart. She was born November 8, 1935 in Constantine to the late Harry P. Sassaman and Bernice (Holcomb) Sassaman.
She and her former husband were the owner and operator of Yukon Delta for 15 years.
Frances enjoyed baking, gardening, being outside, spending time with family and friends, being with Richard while working in the Christmas trees, and riding with him in the Model T. She also found comfort in Jesus and singing gospel hymns. Frances and Richard were high school sweethearts and reconnected after both lost their spouses. They married in 2010.
Survivors include her husband Richard E. Oldenburg of White Pigeon; 5 daughters, Patti (Bill) Reynolds of Elkhart, Debbie Necheporek of Union, MI, Sherri (Mark) Harris of Elkhart, Becky (Jerry) Gray of White Pigeon, and Bonnie (Mark) Salisbury of Three Rivers; 2 sons, Barry (Tami) Oldenburg of White Pigeon and Ben (Amie) Oldenburg of Three Rivers; 3 sisters, Charlene VanKirk of White Pigeon, Sandy (Royce) McCullough of Sturgis, and Debra (Steve) Ware of Constantine; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and former husband William Mills, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Sassaman and Butch Sassaman; sister, Tecky Sommerlot.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Cass County Conservation Club, 13710 US 12, Union, MI 49130 on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, is entrusted with her arrangements.
