Gail Marner, 80

Gail M. Marner, age 80, of Middlebury, died at 6:42 am on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her residence, following a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born on April 2, 1943, in Sturgis to Paul and Juanita (Hawk) Wehrly.

On November 22, 1972 in Sturgis, she married Raymond Marner. He survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are three daughters, Jodie (Darin) Kauffman of Middlebury, Shellie Bennett of Bristol, Nicole Marner of Shipshewana; six grandchildren, Heather Bell, Kira (Scott) Genslinger, Billi Jo Bennett, Kristen (Delmar) Mullet, Tiffany Bassett, Alicia Bennett; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Clouse and Sharon (Virg) Harker, both of Sturgis. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbie Bennett; grandson, Dennis Buckmaster.

Gail worked as a waitress at local restaurants and drove truck delivering parts. She was a former member of New Life Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed crafting, was a sports enthusiast, and loved attending NASCAR races with her husband. Her favorite driver was Chase Elliott.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, October 27, followed by a 1:30 funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gary Miller. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Center for Hospice Care.
