Michael M. Diffendal, age 74, of Shipshewana, died Friday, October 6, 2023, at his residence.
He was born December 14, 1948, in Dowagiac to the late Francis Edward and Helen Elizabeth (Imm) Diffendal.
Michael was a graduate of Mendon High School. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corp. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War and was in service from 1967-1971. He was a strong supporter of the Disabled American Veterans, Humane Society Of The United States, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
On August 2, 1970, he married Linda L. Newton in Mendon.
Mike was a truck driver for many years with Ventline in Bristol, Indiana. He moved out of truck driving and into a manager’s job with Borden Waste-Away Service, Inc. before retiring.
Micheal is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Deb (Phil) Jones; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Kelly (Todd) Huff; and brothers, Rod (Marlane) Diffendal and Greg (Deb) Diffendal.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Darla Rae Sinclair; and brother, Jeff Diffendal.
According to his wishes, cremation is taking place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
