ORV event to raise money for 4-H

A first-of-its-kind event in St. Joseph County will take place later this month and proceeds will help raise funds for St. Joseph County 4-H programs.

An all-terrain vehicle and off-road vehicle fall color tour ride is set for Oct. 21. The one-day event will cover nearly 100 miles in St. Joseph County and feature a number of scenic routes in isolated areas.

The ride starts and ends at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds. Participants will follow a route that includes Rawson’s King Mill, Covered Bridge Farm County Park, Purgatory and Corey Lake Orchards.

Participants will be urged to dress for the weather, and pack a cooler of snacks and water.

Registration done on or before Oct. 12 will cost $40 per driver and $10 for each additional rider. From Oct. 13 through the day of, cost is $50 per drier and $15 per additional passenger.

Proceeds will be evenly shared to benefit future 4-H Open Class premiums and the St. Joseph County 4-H Youth Council.
