Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a phone scam being conducted by a police impersonator.
The suspect claims to be “Deputy Brooks” from the Branch County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect advises potential victims they have a warrant for their arrest and immediate payment is required.
The suspect is instructing victims the cash-only payment must be wired through Walmart. Once payment is received, the scam artist’s phone number is disconnected and victims are unable to get their money refunded.
Law-enforcement officials urge members of the public to remain vigilant and cautious to all scams. Law enforcement will never call asking for cash payment for any purpose.
How stupid do you have to be to believe it, specially when told to send police money through Walmart?
Get anyone that dense a conservator!
