Richard A. Janes, age 82, of Rockford, formerly of Colon, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids.
Richard was born on August 2, 1941, in Fawn River Township, a son to the late William T. & Nora B. (Shallenbarger) Janes. He attended and graduated from Colon High School with the class of 1959. Richard then moved to Holland for a period of time before settling in Rockford for the last 40 years. Richard worked as a refuse driver at Sunset Waste for many years until his retirement.
On December 30, 1984, Richard married Joyce Marie Wright at Bethel Lutheran Church in Howard City, Michigan.
Surviving Richard is his wife Joyce M. Janes of Rockford, children: Beth Anne (Todd) Adams of Resaca, Georgia, Renee (Eric) Wilson of Fremont, Michigan, Richard Janes of Greensboro, North Carolina, Arron (Nancy) Beeman of Fife Lake, Michigan, and Victoria (Thomas) Cate of Rockford, Michigan. Grandchildren: Devon, Michael, Savanah, Blake, Ethan, Hannah, and Anderson, 8 great grandchildren, and a brother Roger (Linda) Janes of Sturgis.
Besides his parents William and Nora Janes, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Jalene Janes.
A private visitation will be held at the Schipper Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a public graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 12:00 PM.
