Here’s an update on work being done on U.S. 131 in St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties, according to Michigan Department of Transportation’s Christopher Jacobs.
Recently completed work includes hot-mix asphalt leveling and top course, right lane and shoulder application northbound; strain pole foundations chipped down at the northeast quadrant at Main Street; restoration work northbound and southbound; and northbound ditching north of Flowerfield Road.
The two-week outlook includes hot-mix asphalt and application on the southbound side; continued installation of permanent signs northbound; pouring foundations for wood posts; guardrail installation on outside shoulders; and permanent pavement markings.
Jacobs said a few other upcoming tasks include hot-mix asphalt leveling on Johnson and Wilbur roads, and a traffic switch northbound into the outside lane.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
