Billy Ray Adams, age 87, of Vicksburg, passed away at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He was born in Macedonia, Illinois on May 21, 1936 the son of Mickey Adams and Helen Corn. Billy attended school in McLeansboro, Illinois before coming to Michigan. Shortly after his arrival, Billy married Barbara Miller on February 22, 1958 in Vicksburg. He worked at Simpson Lee Paper Company for 12 years, then proceeded to work at Fischer Body General Motors for 27 years, before he retired at the age of 55. Billy enjoyed spending time with his wife and would often travel to Texas in their camper. On the way to Texas however, Barbara would have to visit every casino they passed. Once they finally made it to Texas, Billy was often seen with a fishing pole in his hand. Billy was an avid NASCAR fan and made multiple trips to MIS to experience the races. He also was a big K-Wings fan, attending many hockey games. Billy was a simple, laid-back gentleman who enjoyed feeding and watching the birds outside of his window.
Billy is survived by his sister, Sally (Tom) Reed of Constantine; brother in-law Robert Miller of Three Rivers; nieces and nephews, Matthew Reed, Christopher Reed, Aaron Reed, Joseph (Mandy) Reed, Michael Miller, and Lindsey (Tom) Denharder; and 8 great-nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 64 years, Barbara, and his wonderful son Bradley.
In keeping with Billy’s wishes, cremation has been conducted. An open house for Billy will be held at Klein’s Resort at the clubhouse at a later date. Condolences and memories may be expressed to the family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
