Christine D. Feller, age 98, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday evening, November 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 4, 1925 in Matteson Township, Michigan daughter of the late Joseph F. and Pauline (Ludwick) Herman.
Mrs. Feller resided in Sturgis since 1959, coming from Bronson where she was a graduate of Bronson High School with the class of 1942.
On October 10, 1953 she married Charles E. Feller, Jr. in Coldwater.
She had been employed by Douglas Division, later renamed Douglas Autotech in Bronson, and Doe Distributing in Sturgis.
Christine was an active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis where she was a member of the Altar Society and volunteered her time at many funeral luncheons.
She was an avid gardener. Her family will forever miss her cooking and her famous chocolate chip cookies. Over the years she had baked millions of chocolate cookies and she didn’t even like them. Christine was truly happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters: Polly Lindsay of Sturgis, Teresa Johansen of Bloomington, Illinois, Barbara Doane of Bristol, Indiana and Angela Anger of Spring Lake; grandchildren: Jessica (Andy) Kiss of Colon, Tyler (Jennifer) Johansen of Melissa, Texas and Amanda Anger and Alexander Anger both of Grand Rapids; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and expecting two more anytime and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son: John Feller; grandson: Joseph Lindsay; sons-in-law: Roland Doane; Ronald Anger and; five sisters and seven brothers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 16th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Thursday. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Christine D. Feller will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, Nov. 17th at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Father Andrew Raczkowski celebrant. A graveside committal will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
