Donna Mae Spidle, age 88, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.
Donna was born on May 12, 1935, in Claire, Michigan, a daughter to the late Clare and Bernice (Rose) Strouse.
On July 4, 1953, Donna married Gerald (Jerry) Spidle in Battle Creek. Gerald preceded Donna in death on November 19, 2000.
Donna was a reading fool. She didn’t have a favorite as long as she could read it. Next to reading she liked crossword puzzles with a nice cup of coffee. Donna loved kids but most especially loved her grandkids.
Surviving Donna are her children: Cheryl (Terry) Carr of Sherwood, Gary (Rhonda) Spidle of Crystal River, FL, Brian (Christine Letourneau) Spidle of Sturgis, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Jean Olson, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Clare and Beatrice, Donna was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Spidle, brothers: Robert Strouse, and Donald Strouse, and sisters: Arlene Chapman, Mary Lou Bailey, Shirley Erb.
Following in Donna’s wish’s cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Donna will be held at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be directed to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
