Joann “JoJo” Royeton, age 80, of Sturgis, passed away on November 21, 2023 in Marshall. She was born in Valparaiso, Indiana to Jack and Barbara Royeton. Joann lived in Sturgis for all of her life and she was known for her friendly and independent nature, as well as her strength and pride. She enjoyed riding her bike around town, playing bingo, watching Hallmark movies, and going to work at the St. Joseph Community Co-Op.
While working at the Co-Op, Joann formed many friendships and the staff treated Joann like she was family and made sure she was always taken care of. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Krysti, Moriah, Tonya and all of the other true friends who have supported and cared for Joann over the years.
Joann is survived by her sister Judith (Charles) Thomason, brother James (Elizabeth) Royeton, sister Janet Keenan, sister Jane (David) Ferree, and several nieces and nephews. Joann was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Barbara Royeton and her brother John Royeton.
The Hackman Family Funeral Home will assist the family during this difficult time and a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Joann Royeton will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM, at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Joann will be dearly missed by her loved ones, friends, and all those who knew her. May her soul rest in peace.
