Patricia Strang, 92

Patricia Jane Strang, age 92, of Sturgis, was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, November 5, 2023 at her home.

She was born March 19, 1931 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Glenn and Mildred (Zabel) Blossom.

Mrs. Strang was a lifelong Sturgis resident and graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1949.

On October 7, 1950 she married Richard Eugene Strang in Sturgis. He preceded her in death December 17, 2019.

Pat was a dedicated and devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She had been employed a short time in the catalog department at J.C. Penney in Sturgis.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. She was a member of the Sturgis Hospital Gift Shop Guild and for several years volunteered her time doing manicures for residents at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. Mrs. Strang enjoyed reading, was an avid shopper, and walker at the Doyle Center where she was a member of the Silver Sneakers. Mrs. Strang had hobbies and interests but what she found the most joy in was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Leslee (Steve) Strang-Smith of Elkhart and Karen Strang-Mullins of Sturgis; sons: Dr. Timothy (Patricia) Strang of Battle Creek and Christopher Strang of Sturgis; grandchildren: Brandon Harker, Stedman Truxal, Danielle (Jesse) Johnston, Suzanne (Matthew) Yono, Dr. Katelyn (Chris Siegel) Strang, Aisha (Louie) Stasko, Nathan Strang, Justin Strang and Bradley Smith; great grandchildren: Morgan Harker, Audrey Harker, Bert Tutsock, Logan Strang, Wallace Johnston, Leonard Yono and Theodore Siegel and nephew: David (Rhonda) Blossom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother: Robert Blossom.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Patricia’s loving caregiver: Patti Dunlap for the years of love and care she gave to their parents.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and interment of the remains will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date to be announced.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
