Roger Moyer, 84

Roger L Moyer, age 84, of Bristol, IN, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. He was born August 20, 1939 in Constantine, a son of Lyle and Neva (Kent) Moyer. Roger graduated from Constantine High School in 1957 where he participated in basketball, baseball, and football. He was #43, and the full back on the football team with the nickname Tank. On March 25, 1961 he married Nina Boals at Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine.

Roger retired as Plant Superintendent from Harter Wall Division, Middlebury in 1999 after 30 years of service. He also sold real estate in Constantine for several years. Roger enjoyed bowling, golf, and was an avid sports fan, especially of Notre Dame. Roger and Nina loved to travel, spending winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach. They also were regular attendees at Planet Fitness and the coffee group.

Surviving are his wife Nina Moyer, Bristol, daughters Coleen (Dr. Robert) Griffin, Plainville, MA, Arlene (Troy) Taylor, Elkhart, grandchildren Janie Griffin, Worcester, MA, Andrea (Ryan) Yeager, Elkhart, Aaron (Tatum) Taylor, Elkhart, brothers Leonard Moyer, Constantine, Lenual “Skeet” (Jo) Moyer, Three Rivers, Kenneth (Carol) Moyer, San Tan Valley, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Saturday December 2, 2023, from 1 to 2 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine.   1. Roger was the best boss I ever had. I worked for him at Weyerhauser in Middlebury. Learned a lot from him.

    Mad one night, I told Roger —I quit —. He bought me a cup of coffee, told me to think it over. I drank the coffee, came out, went back to work —- nothing was ever mentioned about it again. RIP Roger!

    I stayed in the Carton Industry, and because of Roger, was superintendent later at a small plant in Ft. Wayne.
