Bruce Brown, 87

We regretfully lost our Dad on Saturday, December 2, 2023 after a long illness. Bruce Allen Brown lived 87 years loving his family and friends with a smile that will not be forgotten. Born the son of Dean Alton Brown and Mary (Parmeter) Brown in Milford, Michigan on October 13, 1936. Bruce was the youngest of three children. He lived in Wakelee for many years and graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1955. After his high school days, Bruce farmed for many years while raising his seven children: Debbie (Paul) Paolasso, Denise Peters, Tim Brown, Julie (Gary) Brown, Tom Brown, Ray Brown, and Chris Brown.

Bruce later moved to Arizona for some time and upon returning to Michigan met and married his wife, Kathleen Morgan of Cassopolis. They spent 25 years of happiness together before Kathy’s passing in 2008. He was employed by Community Mills and the Village of Cassopolis prior to his retirement.

Bruce loved restoring antique farm tractors and bicycles from the 60s. He also enjoyed carpentry, building furniture, and toys for his children and grandchildren, but his real passion was his family. It was always a joyous ritual for the extensive Brown family to spend holidays at Bruce and Kathy’s home over the years. It was only fitting that at the time of his passing he was surrounded by many of his family in support of one another and to say a final goodbye. His memory will be a lasting comfort for his family and all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by son Christopher, daughter Julie, and granddaughters Mackenzie Brown and Rhea Martinez. He is survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the United Methodist Church of Marcellus followed by services. Interment will take place at Marcellus Bly Cemetery with a luncheon at the church to follow.

Arrangements by Hohner Funeral Home.
