County unemployment increased

October’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County increased by four-tenths of a percent from September.

Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate rose from 4.2 percent in September to 4.6 percent in October.

Meanwhile, Cass County experienced a drop in its unemployment figures from September to October. Its September rate was 4.5 percent and lowered to 4.3 percent a month later.

Over in Branch County, its one-month unemployment rate was unchanged from September to October. It remained at 3.8 percent.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October was 4.1 percent, up from 3.9 percent in September.
