Judy Shafer, age 81, of LaGrange, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
Mrs. Shafer was born on June 1, 1942, in Fort Wayne to Lawrence D. “Buck” and Mary J. (Myers) Witham.
She worked as an assembler at Dometic Corporation and had worked at other various jobs.
On January 23, 1974, in LaGrange, Judy was married to Keith W. Shafer, Sr. He survives in LaGrange.
Also surviving are her children, Julie Gadson of Sturgis, Keith (Joan) Shafer of Orland, IN, Vicki (Tim) Weaver of Howe, IN, Glen (Sharon) Shafer of New Palestine, IN, and Joan (Dennis) Sivits of Shipshewana; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Penny Fulford of Sturgis, and Ruth Tucker of Rome City, IN.
Preceding Mrs. Shafer in death were her parents; a son, Jimmy Joe Burkhead; and a brother, Harry Dale Witham.
Visitation will begin on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 12:00 pm and continue until the service time at 2 pm at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN. Rev. Thomas Smith will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at Mongo Cemetery in Mongo, IN.
Memorials may be left to the American Kidney Fund.
