Vicksburg begins move to new municipal building

Vicksburg Village Manager Jim Mallery gave an update on progress related to the new municipal building.

During the village’s Nov. 20 council meeting, Mallery said the impending move started this week with relocating file cabinets filled with old documents. Mallery said at some point the documents – some which date to the 1970s – will all be digitalized for permanent preservation.

New office furniture is to be brought in this week, as well, Mallery said.

Meanwhile, computers and computer-related accessories are set to be moved the week of Dec. 11. Mallery said staff is expected to relocate that week and day-to-day operations from the new site to start Dec. 18.

The village council’s first meeting from the new location will be Jan. 29.

Located on a parcel just north of the village water tower on North Richardson Street, the $2.5 million complex was originally expected to open in February.
