Arrests made following police chase

A Sturgis man was arrested last week after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit in St. Joseph and LaGrange counties.

Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said deputies were made aware around 11 a.m. Saturday of a driver who refused to pull over for speeding on Fawn River Road, near Balk Road, in Sturgis Township.

Authorities said the driver reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour before entering LaGrange County, where the driver eventually pulled over and surrendered.

The 53-year-old suspect was taken to LaGrange County Jail on numerous drug-related charges, investigators said. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old Three Rivers woman, a passenger in the vehicle. was also taken to Lagrange County Jail for an outstanding warrant and drug-related charges.

Michigan authorities are pursuing charges of fleeing and eluding as well as drug-related infractions.
