Beverly J. Mount, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away on January 13, 2024 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born November 16, 1939 in Indian Neck, Connecticut, the daughter of the late John Ivar and Olive Johnson.
Beverly resided in Sturgis since 1971 coming from Columbus, Georgia.
On August 17, 1968 she married Lamar Thomas Mount, Sr. in Columbus, Georgia. He preceded her in death June 7, 2013.
Most of Bev’s working life was involved in banking. She had been employed by Citizens State Bank, First Federal Savings Bank, and Sturgis Bank and Trust.
She was a member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene and the former St. Timothy Lutheran Church, both in Sturgis.
For over 30 years she was an active foster mother in Georgia and Michigan.
She was a member of the Commission on Aging and the Order of Eastern Star Olive Branch Charter #2. Beverly truly loved caring for her many foster children.
She is survived by her sons: Lamar T. (Dina) Mount, Jr. of Morristown, Tennessee and Casey Dawson of Sturgis; grandchildren: Logan, Landen, Madissan, Sydney, Callie, Elijah, Jeremy, Joseph, Joshua and David Carnley and Kathy King; many great grandchildren; sister: Wendy (Walter) Whitney of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew: Tony Mount.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children: Erik Mount, Ronnie Mount and L. Keith Mount; daughter: W. Faye Rogers; stepmother: Florence Jean Redfield and brothers: Allen J. Curtis and Steve Johnson.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 25th at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, 70031 S Lakeview Street in Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating the life of Beverly J. Mount will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M. The Rev. Bill Couchenour will officiate. Private burial of the remains will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.
