Robert Lavon Kime, age 94, of Burr Oak, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2024 at Sparrow House Senior Living in Sturgis.
He was born May 23, 1929 in Sturgis, the only child of the late Harry and Helen (Hearld) Kime.
Bob was a lifelong resident of the Burr Oak and Sturgis area.
He married Betty Schrock. She preceded him in death October 13, 2019.
Bob retired from Sturgis Hospital following several years of working in the maintenance department, a job he truly enjoyed. He also farmed for many years.
Bob was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal and was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1:00, Thursday, January 18th at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Pastor Tyan Bibb of Radiant Life Church will officiate. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
