Bonnie Marie Walker, age 91, of Sturgis passed away Friday afternoon January 5, 2024 at her home.
She was born August 19, 1932 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Wilbur and Lela (Hart) Stanner.
Bonnie resided in Sturgis for the past 68 years coming from LaGrange.
She retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 30 years of dedicated employment.
In 1976 she married George E. Walker in Sturgis. He preceded her in death October 12, 1995.
She was a member of the Sturgis Historical Society and served several years on the City of Sturgis Cemetery and Parks Board.
Bonnie never turned down an opportunity to go shopping, and she loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters: Kristine Bennett and Rae Ann Buhl both of Sturgis and Bonnie Johnson of Coldwater; foster daughter: Ashleigh Walls of Indiana; five grandchildren: Julie Bennett, Jamie Schrock, Chasity Boger and Christine Boger; great grandchildren: Derek, Ryan, Tyler, Taylor, Trinity, Ava, Jaden, Jake, Lauren, Connor and Nolan; seven great great grandchildren; sisters: Jane Myers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Joanna Wickey of LaGrange; brother: Bill Stanner of Elkhart, and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside service and burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
