Walter Leroy “Butch” McCann, age 80, of Howe, IN passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Butch was born on July 19, 1943, in Auburn, IN to Walter Earnest and Ruby (Diehm) McCann.
Butch spent most of his lifetime in LaGrange County and was a graduate of Brighton High School. He retired in 2007, from the Toll Road Plaza in Howe, where he had been a manager. He loved going to the races, involving his sons and driving race cars. He was a jack of all trades and did many different things throughout his life. Butch had a great sense of humor and loved picking on anyone he could, especially his wife, kids and grandkids.
On November 27, 1982, he married Sharon Shears at the Baptist Church in Centreville.
Surviving is his wife, Sharon McCann of Howe; sons, Eric (Rosemary) McCann of Howe, Kerry (Becky) McCann of Howe, Tim (Bonnie) McCann of Burr Oak, and Todd McCann of Ontario, IN; seven grandchildren, Dane (Desiree), Austin (Brittany), Nate (Abigail), Cole (Tansley), Clay (Olivia), Brittane (Luke), and Hailee (Kaleb); eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Walker of Nancy, KY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Ruby McCann; and two brothers, Larry “Mac” McCann and Danny McCann.
Visitation begins at 1:00 on Saturday, January 20, 2024, and continue until the service begins at 3:00 at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN. Rev. David Hughes will officiate the service.
Burial will take place privately at a later date at Brighton Cemetery in Howe.
