Eveline Goldberg, 83

Eveline Faure Goldberg, age 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, December 31, 2023, after a long illness. She was a resident Chicago and Colon.

Evi was born to the late Eveline and Friedrich Faure in 1940 in Duisburg, Germany and completed her medical studies at the Universitat Munster.  She completed medical residencies at Bryn Mawr Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania. She held positions on faculty at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago throughout her illustrious career as an obstetric anesthesiologist. She was an early pioneer in the US in the use of epidural anesthesia for pain management during childbirth.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Dr. Allen Goldberg, her brother Norbert (Rosemarie), her sister-in-law Renata Faure, three stepchildren, Sandy Goldberg (Judy), Matthew Goldberg (Liz), and Rachel Bailey (Duane), and a host of loving step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She is also survived by her best friend of 57 years, Janet Cameron of Flint, MI. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Faure of Munich.

Evi was an accomplished and caring doctor who exhibited a joie de vivre with everyone she met. She spoke six languages and loved the opera, theater, Greek restaurants, worldwide travel, and the city of Chicago. She was immensely devoted to her husband, Allen, and was enormously proud of the medical students she mentored.
