Gloria M. Condon, age 84, of Burr Oak, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.
On May 18, 1939, Gloria was born in Battle Creek, a daughter to the late George and Beulah (Fisher) Rice. Gloria was a graduate of Centreville High School with class of 1958. She then attended and graduated from Cook County Hospital School of Nursing where she served as president of her class. She graduated in 1962.
On January 25, 1964, Gloria married Stephen G. Condon in Three Rivers. Stephen preceded Gloria in death on February 3, 1995.
Gloria worked as a RN her entire life. She worked at Three Rivers Hospital for 2 years before she came to Colon and worked at the Colon Medical Clinic for the rest of her career, retiring in 2004. Gloria loved living on the farm and her animals, especially her sheep. From an early start she was involved in 4H. In her adult life she was very active in the Burr Oak 4H Club where she served for 30 years as the 4H leader. Above all Gloria loved her family the most. Gloria was also a member of St. Barbra Catholic Church in Colon.
Surviving Gloria are her sons: Thomas M. (Myrth) Condon of Wetmore, Michigan, and Dr. Joseph F. (Lee Ann) Condon of Colon, grandchildren: Luke (Jennifer) Condon of Cleveland, and Jay Condon of Oakland, Maryland, and her brother Arthur Rice of Centreville.
Besides her parents George and Beulah Rice, Gloria was preceded in death by her Husband Stephen G. Condon, and her sister Evelyn Jacobs.
The Condon family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon from 4:00 to 7:00. A rosary service will take place at 6:30 PM with Deacon Dennis Cristofaro officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Colon at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to either the Colon Rescue Squad or the Burr Oak 4H Club. Envelopes will be available at church and the funeral home.
