Lawrence R. “Larry” Holtz, age 89, of Sturgis, passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville.
He was born August 3, 1934 in Sturgis, son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Chapman) Holtz.
Larry was a lifelong Sturgis resident and graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1952.
On December 29, 1955 he married Shirley A. Todd in Sturgis. She preceded him in death March 19, 2019.
He retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following over 40 years of dedicated employment.
Larry took pride in being a member of local UAW 797 and had served as Vice President. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Sergeant.
He is survived by his son: Robert Holtz of Goshen and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; son: Charles and sisters: Joyce Ames and Janet Shultz.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time. Private interment of the remains will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
