Paul Zeeb, 91

Paul Robert Zeeb, age 91, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, January 8, 2024 at his home.

He was born at home in Sturgis on June 23, 1932 son of the late William and Anna M. (Wittel) Zeeb.

Paul was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1950.

On July 16, 1977 he married Mary Lou Pridgeon in Union City, Michigan.

Paul’s working life began with the Sturgis Journal where he was a paperboy covering the largest route in the city and he also worked in the stock room at J.C. Penney’s Department Store in Sturgis. He had been employed by Sturgis Newport Business Forms for many years until the business closed. Following the closing of the business he and Cleon Shultz established Sturgis Register Forms in 1988 and operated the business until their retiring in 2003 when the business was sold.

Paul was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with Company A 704th Tank Battalion earning the rank of Corporal and was awarded the National Defense Medal.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Paul was an animal lover and loved time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 46 years Mary Lou; daughters: Debra (Robert) Soule and Teresa (Joshua) Matz; sons: Mike (Susan) Zeeb and Eric (Peggy) Zeeb; step-son: Paul Helmke; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Ruth Kenyon and brothers: William Zeeb and Fred Zeeb.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 17th from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where memorial services celebrating the life of Paul Zeeb will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sturgis will officiate. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
