James F. Bennitt, age 75, went to be with his Lord Monday, February 5, 2024.
He was born August 1, 1948 to Edgar and Helene in Muskegon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary and three children, Amy Bennitt, Barbara (Daniel) Nees & their children Phoenix and Alexander James, and Steven (Katie) Bennitt and their children Evelyn and Darcie. Also survived by his brother Blair (Peggy) and their children Jason (Amy), Justin (Marcy) and Leah (Sean) Anderson.
He served in Vietnam with a preventive medicine unit as a cook/baker. He worked for General Telephone Co. & Verizon, retiring after 30 years, and was a member of Three Rivers Eagles 2303 for over 30 years.
James was a kind and caring husband and father. He left a legacy of love, a strong work ethic, and snarky wit – something free is worth saving up for – she who wishes to be obeyed – I worship the ground she walks on – The disappointment will prepare you for adulthood & just do it – it will build character.
He fought his battle with cancer with grace and courage. We will miss him greatly, and carry his love in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held at Three Rivers Eagles 2303 (M-60 & E. Hoffman St., Three Rivers) on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
