Dennis Eagan, 84

Dennis E. “Denny” Eagan, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 3, 2024 at his home.

He was born March 9, 1939 in Sturgis, son of the late Richard and Lois (Holtz) Eagan.

Denny resided most of his life in Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1957.

On June 7, 1974 he married Janet Millin in Centreville.

Most of Denny’s working life was in maintenance. He retired from Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis and for many years worked at United Technologies in Howe, Indiana until the closing of the company.

He was a member of the Wing Dinger’s Model Airplane club and enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator.

Dennis was most proud of serving his country in the U.S. Navy earning the rank of ADR2, Aircraft Engine Mechanic.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife: Janet; daughters: Theresa Asher, Deborah (Kevin) Gray, Cheri (Terry Smutz) Daskam, Dawn Hurley and Micki Hall; sons: Mike (Julie) Eagan and David Eagan; brother: Patrick (Theresa) Eagan; daughter-in-law: Linda Hall; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Kelly Jean Eagan-Walker; son: Jerry Hall; son-in-law: Charles Holleman; sister: Frances Morseau and brother: David Eagan.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, where full military honors will be conferred by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Fort Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard. The family invites friends and relatives to join them for a continued time of fellowship and the sharing of a meal at American Legion Post #72, 500 W. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis on Tuesday, Feb. 13th beginning at 1:00.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
