Gloria Elizabeth Crago, age 90, of Otsego, and former Mendon, Sturgis, and Three Rivers resident, passed away Saturday morning February 17, 2024 at Ely Manor in Allegan.
She was born January 22, 1934 in Paw Paw, daughter of the late John and Alla (Lamphere) Hellinsbeck. Dallas Davis adopted and raised Gloria from the time she was five years old.
Gloria’s early life was lived in Benton Harbor. She had also resided in Mendon, Sturgis, Three Rivers, Otsego and Allegan.
On May 6, 1950 she married Dan Crago in Benton Harbor. In 1958 this marriage ended in divorce. She married Floyd M. Marciniak December 12, 1959 in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death February 21, 1992. Gloria remarried Dan Crago March 28, 2002 and he preceded her in death.
Gloria was a dedicated mother, grandmother, foster grandmother, and homemaker.
She was a current member of the First Congregational Church in Otsego and former member of Christian Fellowship Church in Sturgis and Three Rivers Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Debbie Sellers of Alaska and Rose Higgs of Otsego; sons: Timothy Marian Marciniak of Constantine and Daniel Duane Crago of Sturgis; seven grandchildren: Angie Lugar, Nora (Eric) Higley, Haily Marciniak, Daniel (Jose) Crago-Calderon and Allison Higgs; four great grandchildren: Tyler Stoner, Shawn (Caitlyn) Lugar, Destinee Marciniak and Kiara Price; sister: Jean Brown of Three Rivers; many stepgrandchildren, step-great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, adopted father: Dallas Davis; sister: Marion “Mary” Taylor; brothers: Harry Davis, Dallas Davis, Alan Davis, Richard Davis and Bob Smartwood and step-son: James Marciniak.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Interment of the remains will take place at 2:00, Saturday, February 24th at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating the life of Gloria Elizabeth Crago will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2nd at First Congregational Church, 120 W. Morrell Street in Otsego.
