Jim Oman, 91

James W. Oman, age 91, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2024 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.

He was born November 20, 1932 in Sturgis, son of the late George and Alma (Kline) Oman.

Jim was a lifelong Sturgis resident and graduate of Sturgis High School with the class or 1950.

On October 6, 1956 he married Lore Anna Frueh in Sturgis.

Jim retired from Morgan Olson in Sturgis following 30 years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining Morgan Olson he had been employed by Montgomery Wards in Sturgis as a shoe salesman.

He was an active loyal member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sturgis. His greatest joy in life was taking and sharing the word of Jehovah with others.

He is survived by his son: Michael (Janelle) Oman of Sturgis; daughter: Lisa (David) Chamness of Landrum, South Carolina; grandchildren: Michael (Amber) Chamness, Katherine (Cedric) Viera, William Chamness, James (Emily) Oman, Ben (Jesse) Oman and Lydia (Jeshiah) Worm; great grandchildren: Rilyn Oman, Kendell Oman, Avery Oman and Charlotte Oman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Ralph Oman and Richard Oman.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, March 2nd at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sturgis. Private burial of the remains will take place at the Burr Oak Cemetery at a later date.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
