Park Township voters narrowly turned down a request to double the contribution to a local road fund.
A half-mill increase was defeated, 198 to 179, Tuesday. The funding would have been allocated specifically to road repairs within the township.
Township voters in 2021 supported the establishment of a half-mill. Had the request been successful, the amount would have grown to 1 full mill and remained in effect through 2027.
The additional half mill would have generated an additional $190,000 per year.
A funding increase would have allowed the township to correct portions of Hutchinson and North Fisher Lake roads, among others, supervisor Ed English said.
