Paulette Suzanne Leist, age 83, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 6, 1940 in St. Nazaire, France a daughter to the late Paul and Yvonne (Fouquet) Marrié.
On July 7, 1979 in Sturgis, she married Ronald R. Leist. He preceded her in death March 12, 1994.
After Ron’s death, Paulette moved to Marco Island, FL and resided there until just recently moving back to the Sturgis area. She enjoyed flower gardening and has won the Marco Island Garden of the Year award three times. She owned and operated Colortech for several years.
Surviving are 2 grandsons: Eric (Jessie Kroons) Buckhold and Jerry Caudill; 3 great-grandchildren: Amelia and Arryana Buckhold and Peyton Curry; Siblings: Jean, Joseph, Robert Pierre, and Roger Marrié, all in France; her “adopted” grandchildren: Wendy (Ryan) Stevens, Jessie PeDue, Joseph PeDue, and Lynn Happner; adopted great-grandchildren: Oakley, Parker, Ella, and Jameson Stevens; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Patricia Caudill; and 6 siblings: Paul, Claude, Michel, Yvonne, Louis, and Jacky
The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 Noon to 2:00, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Services celebrating the life of Paulette S. Leist will be held Tuesday at 2:00, immediately following visitation, at the funeral home with Rev. Father Andrew Raczkowski, officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Joseph County Veteran Affairs, P.O. Box 189, Centreville, MI 49032. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
