Centreville schools approve bids on proposed improvements

Centreville Board of Education approved a multi-million-dollar bid this week, with work centering on the elementary school and football field.

During their monthly board meeting Monday, district officials accepted bids totaling $3.7 million for addition of an elementary school cafeteria, and work related to stadium upgrades at the high school track and football field.

Construction manager Triangle Associates presented a package of proposals on various components of the job. Funds for the work came from a voter-approved millage increase last May.

The increase of eight-tenths of a mill is expected to generate more than $17 million over a 14-year period, with a variety of improvements to be completed in three phases.
