Dick Wilson, 69

Richard Dean Wilson, age 69, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday morning, March 10, 2024 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo.

He was born April 27, 1954 in Sturgis, son of the late Henry and Twyla (Howe) Wilson.

Dick was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1973.

On September 11, 1976 he married Kathryn E. Molter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.

Dick had been employed by Atwood Mobile Products in LaGrange until the closing of the company.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and at one time a distance runner and completed a marathon. Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was honored to have had the opportunity to be in attendance at Miguel Cabrera’s final home game. Dick loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 48 years: Kathy; son: Justin (Heather) Wilson of Grand Rapids; daughter: Shannon; grandchildren: Colin (Gracie) Wilson, Emma (Ethan Perry) Wilson, Sunshine Berglund, Sophia Wilson, Kennedy Wilson and Bradyn Webb; great grandchildren: Aiyva and Elliot Wilson; sisters: Lois Broker of Sturgis, Carolyn Cruea of Alliance, Ohio and Deb Dvorak of Tennessee; brother: Larry (Carol) Wilson of Sturgis; brother-in-law: Mark Dvorak of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Jaime Nicole Schuler; infant great grandson: Carl Wilson and brother: Robert Wilson.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00, Sunday, March 17th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to the Hackman Family Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 9, Sturgis, MI 49091 to help with expenses.
