St. Joseph County Prosecutor David Marvin has issued a statement related to the January dismissal of Deb Davis as assistant prosecutor.
Marvin said most people recognize right and wrong, and there are consequences for people who confuse wrong for right. He said it would have been a disservice to the county and its law-enforcement community if he had not fired Davis.
Marvin referred to a summary of his report that detailed a courtroom situation Jan. 16 in which Davis served in the capacity of assistant prosecutor.
Marvin vowed that no assistant prosecutor under his watch will violate the oath of integrity lawyers vow to uphold, especially at the expense of individual liberty.
Marvin said he will seek re-election to a second, four-year term, as his current term expires at the end of the year.
Davis, who is running for prosecutor in the August primary, has said Marvin’s investigation into the matter was a sham because she was never interviewed to provide her side of the story.
