Aris Vilemson, 87

Aris Vilemson, age 87, of Three Rivers, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 7, 1937 in Saldus, Latvia, the son of Jakobs and Valija (Dekšnieks) Vilemsons.

Aris served in the United States Army for eight years – four active and four reserve.

He became a certified engineer receiving his education through Ohio State, and started at Western Electric which then became Bell and later AT&T, from which he retired at age 53.

Aris enjoyed singing in the Latvian Men’s Choir, woodworking, tennis, and golf. He was an excellent bread maker – everyone loved his Latvian Rye Bread. He attended the Latvian Evangelical Church of Kalamazoo.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ramona (Robert) Clucas; grandchildren, Mara (Greg) House and Mark Clucas (Francheska Angel Kagawa); brothers, Aivars (Gundega) Vilemsons and Modris (Alice) Vilemsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Silvia.

In accordance with family wishes, cremation will be conducted.  A celebration of his life will be held in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Aris’ memory may be directed to Latvian Center Garezers or to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home.
