Clayton Danial Whitcomb, age 26, of Sturgis, passed away early Saturday morning, March 30, 2024, in White Pigeon Township due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born August 16, 1997 in Sturgis, son of William Clayton and Erin (Ferrier) Whitcomb.
Clay was a lifelong Sturgis resident.
He was currently employed by Jayco in Middlebury, and worked for Klinger Lake Marina in Sturgis, and had recently established his own boat detailing business at the marina. Clay was a licensed carpenter.
He had a true appreciation for the outdoors, and time on the water boating, fishing, and hunting. He was an accomplished weightlifter and at one time held state records in dead lift, bench press, and squat. He could be described as a risk taker or adrenal junkie and enjoyed riding dirt bikes and trucks. He cherished time spent with his girlfriend, family, and many friends.
Clay is survived by his mother: Erin Whitcomb of Sturgis, father: William Clayton (Tonya) Whitcomb of Constantine; brothers: Austin (Brittany) Whitcomb of Burr Oak and Lane Whitcomb of Sturgis; step-brother: Devin Koller of Constantine; step-sister: Paige (Paisley) Koller of Constantine; his nieces and nephews that he dearly loved: Greyson Brown, Brinley Whitcomb, Susan Bohne and Carter Miracle; grandparents: Ruth Ferrier of Sturgis, Phillip Ferrier of Sherwood, Donnita Bishop of Muncie, Indiana and Larry Whitcomb of Grandville, Indiana; his girlfriend: Amberlee McKerchie of White Pigeon and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5th at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, 70031 S. Lakeview St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Clayton Danial Whitcomb will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday. A graveside committal will follow the services at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
