Marilyn D. Saxman, age 81, of Colon, passed away at her home on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Marilyn was born on September 11, 1942, in Columbia, Indiana, a daughter to the late Elwood Bauder and Mable (Schuman) Yocom. Marilyn was a graduate of Mendon High School with the class of 1960.
On September 13, 1963, Marilyn married Raymond W. Saxman in Leonidas. Raymond preceded Marilyn in death on November 20, 2009.
Marilyn worked at Kirsch Co. in Sturgis for 32 years until her retirement. After retirement she worked for Remington Seed during their fall harvest. Marilyn loved to watch her grandchildren play sports, she also enjoyed her flowers and plants, mowing the lawn, and living on the lake defending her yard from the neighborhood geese.
Surviving Marilyn are her children: Debbie (Gary) Herman of Bronson, Michael (Colleen) Saxman of Colon, Laurie Saxman of Colon, Jackie (Todd Carpenter) Bowdish of Sturgis, Bob (Kerri) Saxman of Portage, Grandchildren: Becky Eldridge, Lindsey (Adam) Schwenk, Kyle (Kylan) Eldridge, Anthony Saxman, Abby Saxman, Hannah McDonald, Kalvyn (Kayla Schmucker) Bowdish, JD (Marie) Bowdish, Madison Saxman, Gabi Saxman, 6 great grandchildren, and her favorite dogs Chrissy and Dakota.
Besides her parents Elwood and Mable, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Raymond W. Saxman, twin sister Carolyn Adams, and sister Maxine Poponos.
The Saxman family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. A funeral service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Saxman Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
