Oliver Baker, 73

Oliver Lynn (Dutch) Baker, age 73, of White Pigeon, died at home following a short illness on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  He was born in Plainwell on August 31, 1950 the Son of Richard E. and Marilyn (Bigham) Baker. He was a White Pigeon resident since 1995, coming from Dowagiac.  He was a Dowagiac High School Graduate, Tech School and The Police Academy. Owner of Baker Sales, Howard Township Police Department, and White Pigeon Chief of Police 1995 to 2015. Twin Lakes Fire Chief, and Boy Scout Leader. Veteran of The US Army.

He married Nancy L Harger on June 7, 1969 in Dowagiac, she died on September 9, 2021. Survived by His daughter Jody (Matt) Weiderman, Son Richard F. (Kathie Carpenter) Baker, Grandchildren Charles Baker, Rikki Whiteman, Kiley Weiderman McKenna Weiderman, Several Great-Grandchildren. Brother Dan Baker, Sister Wendi Harwell, Nieces and Nephews.

Oliver was preceded by his parents, wife, Brothers Rusty, David, and Richard Baker, Tony Boven, Gene (Bink) Bontrager, Sister Jody Smith, Grandchild Josh Yahne, Great-Grandchild Savannah Gardner.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Calvary Bible Church, 27032 Marcellus Highway, Dowagiac, where Services will be held at 1:00 on Friday April 5, 2024 with Pastor Nate Wilder officiating. Burial in South Wayne Cemetery.
