Volunteers needed for Mendon home-improvement project

Organizers of a special event next month in Mendon are hoping to attract additional volunteers for the benevolent project.

“Mendon Rock the Block” takes place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18. Coordinators said the day is dedicated to bringing together volunteers to assist in exterior home-improvement projects for residents in need within the Mendon area.

The goal is to not only improve individual homes, but also to foster community spirit and unity, according to organizer Nick Metzger.

Organizers are seeking volunteers willing to contribute their time and skills to make the one-day event a success. Additionally, they are inviting applications from Mendon residents who would benefit from exterior home-improvement assistance.

Applications are due April 26. Examples of assistance include picking up yard trash, trimming bushes and trees, exterior painting, power washing and small-repair projects.

Prospective participants or anyone in need of assistance can contact Mendon village office at 496-4395, or Habitat For Humanity, at 467-4663.
