Great Start Collaborative and several other area agencies are asking for assistance with its monthly diaper distribution.
Great Start family liaison Amanda Johnson said the diaper drive has increased its outreach, and doubled the number of families and children since February. Sixty families and 99 children were served at its April distribution.
The flip side to that, Johnson said, is the supply it had on hand was wiped out last month of most diaper sizes, with the exception of newborn diapers and adult disposable diapers.
To avoid a repeat at the May 16 distribution, Johnson said individual or group donations of diapers and wipes to supplement current inventory this month would be appreciated.
She said another helpful measure would be for other organizations to hold one or more diaper drives to benefit the diaper bank.
The drive is held the third Thursday of the month at the Department of Health and Human Services in Centreville.
