A Cass County man died in a single-vehicle crash earlier this week in Van Buren County’s Keeler Township.
Authorities said deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. Monday to the 69000 block of 84th Avenue in response to a personal-injury crash. Investigators said first-arriving personnel reported a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air crashed into a tree.
A 54-year-old man from Dowagiac was found unresponsive inside the car. First responders attempted life-saving measures on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators speculated the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to a partially flooded gravel road surface. Officials said it’s possible alcohol may have allegedly been a factor in the crash.
