Warrants sought in meth trafficking incident

A 49-year-old man faces drug-related charges following an investigation involving authorities from Michigan and Indiana.

Southwest Enforcement Team detectives, along with the Elkhart County Intelligence and Covert Enforcement Team detectives, worked May 21 to focus on a methamphetamine trafficker operating in southern Cass County and northern Elkhart County.

Indiana officials conducted a traffic stop of the suspect. Authorities located half a pound of crystal meth, a loaded revolver and several thousand dollars of suspected drug proceeds.

Officers subsequently executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, located in the 19000 block of South Metcalf Court in Cass County’s Mason Township.

While searching the house, SWET detectives found more than a pound of crystal meth, additional ammunition and evidence of drug distribution.

Warrants are being sought for the suspect and his wife from the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.
