A pedestrian died Monday following what appears to be a hit-and-run incident in Cass County’s Porter Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called around 6:30 a.m. to an area along U.S. 12, west of Mason Street.
Deputies responded to a 911 call fielded by the county’s central dispatch. The caller indicated seeing a body alongside the roadway and believed it was a person hit by a car.
Emergency personnel found a male subject deceased in a grassy area on the side of the roadway.
Name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
