Wendy L. Russell, age 73, of Sturgis, went to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday evening, June 16, 2024, at her home.
She was born December 3, 1950 in Erie, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Wayne M. and Vera Jeanette (Schenk) Price.
Wendy resided in Sturgis since 1993, coming from Rural Hall, North Carolina. Her early life was spent in Harbor Creek, Pennsylvania where she was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School with the class of 1968. She furthered her education at Penn State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s certificate in education from the state of Pennsylvania.
On June 16, 1973, she married the love of her life, Glenn Russell at the Wesley Methodist Church in Wesleyville, Pennsylvania.
Wendy retired from Pfizer in Kalamazoo following 22 years of dedicated employment, most of that time in technological writing. She had also taught elementary education in public and Christian school systems for 23 years including: Rural Hall Public Schools, Rural Hall NC, North East Pennsylvania Public Schools, North East, PA, Woodland Christian Schools in Winston-Salem, NC and Factoryville Christian School in Athens, MI. She also worked one year at the Centreville Post Office.
She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Centreville and the Kalamazoo Corvette Club. She enjoyed antiquing, traveling and loved time spent with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Pastor Glenn Russell; daughter: Mandy (Mike) Hamelink of Portage; son: Jacob (Danae) Russell of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren: Ashley, Dylan, Amanda and William Hamelink, Jasmin, Mya, Lincoln and Lucas Russell; sister: Penny (Peter) Bruce of Erie, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Monday June 24, 2024, at Fish Lake Bible Church, 25108 Banker St, in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Wendy L. Russell will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 noon. Longtime family friend Pastor Pat Neff will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Fellowship Church Cemetery, Centreville.
