J. Ascencion Barrera Perez, age 55, of Sturgis, husband of Maria Lucia Sanchez, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born January 27, 1969, in Zinpecuaro, Michoacan, Mexico son of Lauro Barrera and Andrea Perez.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 402 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed together immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of J. Ascencion Barrera Perez will begin at 1:00 Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Father Raul Gomez will celebrate the Mass. A graveside committal will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
