Jacklyn Connelly, 88

Jacklyn Lea Connelly, age 88, of Three Rivers, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born December 4, 1935, in South Bend, the daughter of Paul and Erma (Hoffman) Haringer, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1953.

On June 28, 1958 Jacklyn married John A. Connelly. Together they enjoyed camping, bowling, and traveling especially visiting Alaska and Hawaii. Their greatest joys were spending time with the children and grandchildren.

First working as a telephone operator, she later drove bus for Three Rivers Community Schools for more than 13 years.

Jacklyn was highly involved in her children’s activities, volunteering at Lake Section/Norton School and helping as a Brownie Leader and 4-H volunteer. She assisted with Special Olympics through the Civitan Club and enjoyed bowling. She was an active member of Corey Church of the Nazarene, participating in all facets of its activities.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark (Joel) Connelly and Scott (Jennifer) Connelly; daughter, Jill (Thomas) Smelser; grandchildren, Kelley Smelser, Aaron (Sarah) Smelser, Corey (Myranda) Smelser, Sean Connelly, and Ryan Connelly; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Lydia, Isaebella, Elizabeth, and Aryanna.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Ruth and Gertrude; and one brother, Albert.

Her family will receive friends Friday, August 2, 2024 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Derl Keefer and Pastor Gary Carr officiating. Interment will be held at Poe’s Cemetery at a later date.
