Three Rivers Lions Club has announced its “Citizens of the Year” for 2024.
Leilani and Bruce Ruesink are the recipients of the annual award. The two were acknowledged at last week’s Three Rivers City Commission meeting.
Mayor Tom Lowry said the Ruesinks are community activists whose reach extends to Corey Lake Orchards, Three Rivers Women’s Club, local arts programs and education.
Leilani Ruesink previously taught eighth-grade English Language Arts at Three Rivers Middle School before retirement.
Also a retired teacher, Bruce Ruesink has been involved with Three Rivers Community Players and has played an important role at the Fabius Township orchard.
A banquet to honor the couple will take place on Tuesday, July 16 in Three Rivers.
