Michigan’s June unemployment rate up

The adjusted unemployment rate in Michigan increased in June from the previous month.

Data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget shows the state’s unemployment rate rose from 3.9 percent in May to 4.1 percent in June.

Employment lowered by 9,000 over the month, while unemployment rose by 8,000, according to the agency.

Slight increases were reported in private education and health services, as well as professional and business services.

Michigan’s June unemployment rate equaled the national rate, according to agency officials.
