The family of Patricia “Pat” Sullivan would like to share the news of her passing. Surrounded by her family, Pat peacefully passed away at Birch Meadows Senior Care on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the age of 87.
Pat was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and aunt. Pat had a very full and well-lived life. Her sweet smile, beautiful blue eyes and tender heart will be missed by all who knew her and loved her!
Born in Cairo, Illinois on August 25, 1936, Pat was the daughter of the late Curtis and Marguerite Profilet. Pat spent her childhood and young adult years in the greater Cairo, Illinois area. She attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Cairo High School as salutatorian of the Class of 1954. While in high school and following graduation, Pat worked for Cairo attorney, John Holland, as a stenographer. While Pat was enjoying her professional career, her personal life was blessed with love as she met the love of her life, John Sullivan. John and Pat were married on March 12, 1955, after John returned home from service in the Korean War. They enjoyed 68 years of married life which included raising six children. Pat was affectionately referred to as ‘Mee Maw’ by her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Her energy, kindness and love for her family will always hold a special place in the entire family’s heart. Pat’s passion for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish has been passed on to her family. Her spirit for all things fun and competitive and being the most loving person for her family will be greatly missed. She was dog momma to Charlie and cherished him as her furry companion following John’s death in September of 2023.
With husband, John, Pat owned the Sullivan Insurance Agency. She was an active member in the White Pigeon community and was honored with the “White Pigeon Citizen of the Year” award in 2003. She was a devoted parish member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, which included membership in the Altar Society. Pat also held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary.
Pat was a friend to many and enjoyed chatting with neighbors, friends and family. While the majority of her time was spent raising her children and caring for her grandchildren, she was an avid volunteer for the White Pigeon Athletic Booster Club. Pat was a huge fan of the White Pigeon Chiefs and she wore her red and black with great pride. Education was one of Pat’s passions and she was an advocate for the White Pigeon community School bond proposals for the continued improvement of the schools.
Pat is survived by her six children: Kathy Shoesmith, Kim Aldrich, Kevin Sullivan (Tonya), Melanie Olsen (Mark), Michael Sullivan (Diana) and Bridget Jennings (Bob).
